Hike and bike in the land of the matriarchs

This particular Multi-activity tour takes us on bicycles and on foot across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. Due to its unique georgaphical location, it some of the highest rain fall on earth which in turn bestows this region with its amazing mix of forested valleys and grassland plateaus.

The cycling phase takes you across the beautiful landscape, whereas the hiking days take you through some of the best trails of the region, amongst which the famous living root bridges trail. Enroute we will picnic lunch in beautiful locations and swim in prestine pools while visitng waterfalls, caves and local archery competitions. During this multi activity tour of Meghalaya tour you will stay in quaint homestays, off the grid farms and small family run establishments. The tour will give you indepth and personal prospective of this land and its wonderful people.

Terrain

The terrain on this tour is totally hilly. Except for a few odd stretches the roads are generally excellent. The hiking is on well trodden tracks.

Backup

Sturdy SUV’s and sturdier driver will accompany you on every trip. the condition of roads do not allow for larger vehicles, however do our best to provide you the best in comfort in relation to the routes that we ply on. These vehicles are along right from your airport pick up to your drop back to the airport.

Weather Pattern

Post monsoon months of September- October and pre monsoon months of March-April are very pleasant with blue skies and a fair days. Peak winters are from November to February with the mercury coming down below 10 C, in the evenings, however the days are still favourable for cycling.

Safety

We have a very experienced team which is also local. This reflects in the overall safety of our tours. Rest assured your guides know where extra attention is required and when. All our routes are well known to us, we know where the nearest medical facilities are, we know whom to contact if in case of an emergency, we know all the alternate routes in case of road blockages. We have CASEVAC protocols in place to streamline the process in case of emergencies.
